UESA Conference in More than 900 people - among them members of various Ukrainian professionals' societies and community organizations - participated in the diverse programs that constituted the inaugural Joint Conferences of Ukrainian American Organizations held in and around Washington, D.C. from June 23 through June 27.
As part of this event, on June 25 the UESA held a conference titled "U.S.-Ukraine Science and Technology Cooperation: Status and Opportunities". The program included opening remarks by Dr. Lev Dobjanskyj, UESA president, and a keynote address by Anton D. Buteiko, ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. At the "Space Science and Technology" session, Dr. Roald Sagdeev, director of the East-West Space Science Center, spoke about SilkSAT, a space communications mission opporunity. Academician Yaroslav Yatskiv, director of the Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, spoke about space science research programs, collaboration, and opportunities in Ukraine.
